Advice...
Ok, so I'm a little Paranoid! Ever since I started my blog I have greatly considered making it a private blog! I don't like it easily accessible to anyone on the internet... it kind of freaks me out.. to be honest. Well, I want opinions on what you think if I should go private or not. One reason why I haven't wanted to go private is I have found so many of my friends and they have found me. One REQUEST I have for all of you before I make my decision is on the link to my blog if you will only put my first name, and not my last name, I would appreciate it greatly! My sisters decided to google me to see if they could find my blog (because of my small paranoia) and they way they found it is through other's people's blogs who have my first and last name on the link to my page. I know this may be a stupid request, but I would love it if you could do that small favor for me. I removed all last names from my side bar after I had thought about this more.... and I guess if I made it a private blog it would solve the whole issue, but I'm not sure if I want to quite yet... it will be in the future :) Thanks for listening and I would love feedback!

Hey I know what ya mean about the going private thing. I have considered it too, but I just hate having to log in to view someones blog, or someone not being able to view mine....just a thought! I agree we should do lunch sometime! Let me know!
You may have already read this on Kristen's but the other bad thing about going private is you can only have 100 readers. Friends who have spouses who BOTH read it would take TWO of your 100 spots. It fills up quick! I considered it and realized I was well over the 100-reader mark and decided "whatever." I too really like that people have been able to get in touch with me. I've met my share of sickos already in my lifetime (you should know this) and they know EXACTLY where I live. It is a wierd thought to know there are OTHER people who can see "my life" but considering other alternatives, I'm not too worried.
I vote for private blogs. It is easier to keep up with friends that are not private, because I use a reader. You can set up notifications that send an email when you make a new post.
I have tried googleing myself too. I have no way of hiding because of my business license. I think you are smart to be concerned. I have decided we will go private when our adoption process is final. Until then, I am at the mercy of the world!
I have considered going private too, but I have some family that I don't think would like signing in to view it. I am going to remove yours and everyones last name from my list!
I totally thought of this and then Jaron posted about it. You may like using a reader because you don't need your blog list that way-it basically means you can delete that box if you want and you'll still know when people update (it's a hardcore timesaver too)! The only problem with readers is they DON'T read private blogs so you do have to keep those ones on your link list. It shouldn't be too big a deal though since no one else can access them anyway. If you're interested, let me know and I'll come over and teach you--I've got some spare time! :) If you look at my links, only I have a separate section for private blogs. I'll probably be gettin' rid of my blog link list soon just because there are so many other things that are way cuter to post than other people's names. It's just been an easy way for people to find one another.
All I ask is that you make sure you send me an invitation:) I have had too many friends who I had blogs for but not emails and they went private and now I can't see how they are doing! Yes, I might eventually go private too...
Hey Charise! This is Tracy (Wilkins), remember me from Jamba Juice?! So awesome to find you on here (through Janey's blog ... I didn't know you knew each other!).
Re: your post. The privacy issue is one big reason it has taken me so long to actually start blogging, particularly because of my husband's job. I agree, though, that part of the fun is to find people/be found. Also, another con to going private, I don't think people can subscribe to your feed using Google Reader.
i debate about this a lot too, but you do find people you've lost contact with etc. And i asked my friends to do the same thing about removing the last name. I have had any weird experiences yet, so keep my fingers crossed. If you do go private, make sure i get an invite, bjdcwilson_711@msn.com
if you do...add me! its fun to see high school friends and what they are up to.
